November 15, 2008 - Gevaudan will no longer continue as a full band
It is with great regret and uncertainties that we are making the decision to no longer continue Gevaudan as a full band. There are many reasons for this and one is that I, personally, have lost interest in being in a performing band and the responsibilities that come with that aspect (for the time being). Secondly, I really don’t see any reason to continue in the black metal style. I’ve outgrown it and so has Kevin; it's over done and lacking maturity. It's also a "label" that we don't want to attach ourselves to, as our ethos has always been about making aggressive metal, and not a particular style thereof.

I can’t reiterate this enough, our last fully functional line-up was one of the best I’ve ever played with and I want to thank all of them for being part of Gevaudan. As you can appreciate, we will no longer be playing the Woods of Ypres show scheduled for November 21, 2008 at Mavericks in Ottawa. It is with much regret that we had to pull-out of the show, but we all felt it was in everyone’s best interest to drop-off the bill well in advance.

However, the decision has been made that Gevaudan will continue as a studio project, with Kevin and myself writing new material for a new album, with a new direction, new ideas, new talents to showcase, and a renewed focus on making straight-forward, aggressive heavy metal. We anticipate the album should be completed by the end of 2009, or the beginning of 2010. We plan to work on the arrangements, songwriting and recording with other people we know and trust (and perhaps some familiar names from the last album). It is quite possible that, after the second album is released, Gevaudan will be a fully functional band again and play live; only time will tell.

In the meantime, feel free to check back here or at our Myspace for updates on the official Gevaudan video and future studio diaries, as they become available.

Kind regards,

Paul Champagne on behalf of Gevaudan

August 10 , 2008 - New Pics Added
Some still shots from the video shoot are now available here! We're working away at the video, piece-by-piece. We hope to have it ready by late Fall/early Winter. It's a somewhat traditional video in that it's performance-based, but we feel it is an excellent representation of what this band is about. Stay tuned and keep it metal!

June 23, 2008 - Music Video = In the Works!!!
Gévaudan is preparing to do an “official” video shoot for The Anti-Art, the lead track off The Arrogant Chronicles! The video will be a professional effort and will feature a dark, atmospheric mix of all the metal video elements we’ve come to know and enjoy over the years. We hope to have a final product by the end of the year (video editing takes time!), so please be patient, and stay tuned!

May 14, 2008 - Gevaudan Receives Rave Reviews!
Our album, The Arrogant Chronicles, received a review by Aaron Small in Bravewords and Bloody Knuckles issue #110 this past month! The review made it into the Brave Underground section and was very positive. We hope to build on the momentum in the coming months and we anticipate being included in the new digital sampler format currently in the works from Bravewords, so please stay tuned.

You can read a transcript of the Aaron Small review in the BLOG section of our Myspace, along with that of Michel Renaud from Metal Crypt.

Thanks to everyone for your support!

November 28, 2008 - Gévaudan Opens for the Legendary Rotting Christ!
In a rather unprecedented maneuver, Gévaudan secured the opening slot for Rotting Christ in Ottawa during the Canadian leg of their North American tour! The show marked the first live appearance of Gévaudan since coming together as a complete lineup in August 2007.

It was a packed house with many fans citing Gévaudan's first show as their primary reason for coming out. The band played with passion and intensity, reveling every moment and reliving the long road it took to arrive on stage with such legends as Rotting Christ.
